Moving supplies and evacuating casualties from the edge of the front lines — the proverbial “last mile” — has becoming increasingly hazardous. In addition to fire from traditional weapons like artillery, machine guns and snipers, drones now present a threat. So, the U.S. Army would like a robot to do the work. United States ruler Donald Trump has extended the ceasefire with Iran, citing a “seriously fractured government.” Trump also said the ceasefire would continue “until such time as” Iran’s leaders and representatives submit a “unified proposal” to end the war with the U.S. and Israel. According to a report by CNBC, Trump’s announcement came after reports that an expected trip by Vice President JD Vance to Pakistan for a second round of peace talks with Iranian officials had been put on hold, and after the Iranian state news outlet Tasnim reported that negotiators from Tehran had informed their U.S. counterparts through an intermediary in Pakistan that they would not appear for further talks. Vance Fails In Iran: No Peace Deal “Iran ultimately announced today that under these circumstances, attending the negotiations is a waste of time because the US prevents reaching any suitable agreement,” Tasnim reported, as cited by CNBC. An advisor to the speaker of Iran’s parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, called Trump’s ceasefire extension “a ploy to buy time” for a surprise strike, Reuters reported. Qalibaf’s advisor, in a post on X, also said the continued blockade of Iranian ports by the U.S. Navy was “no different from bombardment and must…

The U.S. Army is rolling out a new physical assessment designed to measure battlefield fitness for soldiers serving in combat roles, the service announced on Wednesday. The new Combat Field Test is designed to evaluate how soldiers perform under conditions that more closely resemble warfare on the modern battlefield, the Army said, launching a program that emphasizes strength, endurance and movement with loads. The test will also be age- and sex-neutral and scored on a pass/fail standard. The test begins with a one-mile run, followed by 30 dead-stop pushups, a 100-meter sprint, 16 lifts of a 40-pound sandbag onto a 65-inch platform and a 50-meter carry of two Army water cans weighing 40 pounds each. The soldier then completes a 50-meter movement drill with high crawl and a 25-meter three-five second rush before a final one-mile run. Soldiers have 30 minutes to complete the entire assessment — with a continuously running clock — while wearing the Army Combat Uniform with boots. The Combat Field Test does not replace the Army Fitness Test, the service said.RELATEDThe Army will begin to implement the new test this month, and it will be required annually. The service said no adverse administrative actions would be taken against…

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has directed the Marine Corps to elevate valor awards for those ensnared in the deadly bombing at Kabul airport’s Abbey Gate in August 2021, after an internal review found several commendations had been “inappropriately downgraded.” Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell said that, following a probe of the original distinctions, the awards have been upgraded to better reflect the risks knowingly accepted by the Marines of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines — and their bravery in saving lives under enemy fire. “The Marines at Abbey Gate were positioned in the direct blast zone with minimal cover, fully aware of an imminent suicide attack, yet they held their ground to keep evacuation operations running,” Parnell said in a statement on Wednesday. “Their actions that day were heroic. The original awards did not reflect that reality. Today’s upgrades correct that injustice.” Parnell added: “To the Marines of Company G and to every service member who stood at Abbey Gate: your actions were seen, your sacrifice was measured correctly, and your valor is now properly recognized.” After then-President Joe Biden began a full withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan, more than 5,000 American personnel oversaw the evacuation of…

As the April 15 tax filing deadline looms, troops and their families should be aware of some tax law changes this year that affect them. The Trump administration’s tax and spending package, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed into law last summer, “was significant tax legislation,” Susan Mitchell, executive director of the Armed Forces Tax Council, told Military Times. “It’s vital that service members understand these tax changes, especially because many deal with the unique circumstances of military life, and there are unique tax rules that apply to them,” she said. Mitchell highlighted some of the changes that will affect service members and their families.Trump AccountsUnder the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, beginning July 5, parents of children 18 years old and younger with a Social Security number can open up a Trump Account — a tax-deferred savings account — in their child’s name. For children born between 2025 and 2028, parents can claim a one-time $1,000 seed contribution, provided by the U.S. Treasury, via IRS Form 4547 to establish the investment account. United States women’s hockey captain Hilary Knight was once again outspoken against President Donald Trump’s quip regarding her team. While on the phone with the men’s team after they had won gold, Trump said he would “have” to invite the women’s team, which also beat Canada to win the Olympics, to last week’s State of the Union address, otherwise, he “probably would be impeached.”In a recent appearance on Ilona Maher’s podcast, Knight reiterated her previous sentiment that Trump made a “distasteful joke” but again gave the men the benefit of the doubt about being in a “tough environment.” However, Knight said that the phone call and the reaction are “a wonderful teaching point.””What we accomplished isn’t laughable. It is a very complex issue regarding what goes on behind closed doors and how women are represented in different conversations, but at the end of the day, none of that should be put on us to explain someone’s behavior,” Knight said. “What should be happening is celebrating all of the women and their amazing feats — specifically our team and the men’s team as well — and how the women carried themselves at the Olympics,…

House and Senate members, along with prominent veterans’ organizations, hope 2026 will be the year Congress passes legislation to give 54,000 wounded veterans their military retirement pay and Veterans Affairs disability compensation — without one offsetting the other. In the past two weeks, veterans groups, including Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars, lobbied lawmakers for passage of the Major Richard Star Act, a bill that would allow medically retired U.S. military personnel to receive both their full retirement pay and VA disability compensation. While the legislation has been a major focus for advocates since 2020, concerns about the estimated 10-year, $9.75 billion cost have stymied its passage. RELATEDSen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., the chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, and Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., the committee’s ranking Democrat, took to the Senate floor Tuesday to support the bill, with Blumenthal calling for the chamber to accelerate its passage by bypassing the committee process. “I’m heartbroken for a nation that can afford to spend tens of billions of dollars, as we are doing right now in a conflict far away, putting Americans’ lives in harm’s way, when we are failing to match [service members’] bravery with our own,” Blumenthal…

United States ruler Donald Trump claims that the U.S. can wage war “forever” with an “virtually unlimited” supply of weapons and ammunition. Trump made the claim in a post to Truth Social on Monday. In the post, Trump dismissed concerns over the U.S.’s alleged limited munitions availability. Military analysts have claimed that the concern is over air defense missiles, and they claim it is a limiting factor in the ongoing U.S.-Israeli campaign aimed at toppling the Iranian government. “Wars can be fought ‘forever,’ and very successfully, using just these supplies (which are better than other countries’ finest arms!),” he wrote. The president suggested weapons stored in other nations could be reallocated for Pentagon use as well, according to a report by RT. A joint U.S.-Israel attack on Iran was responsible for killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran Has Confirmed The Death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei If the U.S. Attempts Assassination of Khamenei, Iran Will Declare War Military experts believe that both Israel and the U.S. are rapidly expending high-end weapons such as interceptors for THAAD, Patriot, and Arrow-3 air defense systems, and sea-launched Tomahawk cruise missiles, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday.
