Moving supplies and evacuating casualties from the edge of the front lines — the proverbial “last mile” — has becoming increasingly hazardous. In addition to fire from traditional weapons like artillery, machine guns and snipers, drones now present a threat. So, the U.S. Army would like a robot to do the work. The service is seeking an unmanned ground vehicle that can handle both casualty evacuation and resupply for tactical units.“The modern battlefield is characterized by persistent enemy surveillance and rapid application of lethal effects at and behind the forward line of troops (FLOT), making any movement to and from the FLOT highly vulnerable,” according to the Army’s Commercial Solution Opening notice, which has a deadline of April 28. “This environment challenges commanders’ ability to resupply units and evacuate casualties.”For resupply, the UGV should be able to haul enough cargo to sustain a dismounted rifle platoon and a company headquarters. “It should be able to transport various classes of supply and operate autonomously across diverse terrains and environments, maintaining reliable communications with supported units,” the Army said. The UGV should also be easily reconfigured for evacuating casualties. It must be able to transport at least two casualties from the point of…
United States ruler Donald Trump has extended the ceasefire with Iran, citing a “seriously fractured government.” Trump also said the ceasefire would continue “until such time as” Iran’s leaders and representatives submit a “unified proposal” to end the war with the U.S. and Israel. According to a report by CNBC, Trump’s announcement came after reports that an expected trip by Vice President JD Vance to Pakistan for a second round of peace talks with Iranian officials had been put on hold, and after the Iranian state news outlet Tasnim reported that negotiators from Tehran had informed their U.S. counterparts through an intermediary in Pakistan that they would not appear for further talks. Vance Fails In Iran: No Peace Deal “Iran ultimately announced today that under these circumstances, attending the negotiations is a waste of time because the US prevents reaching any suitable agreement,” Tasnim reported, as cited by CNBC. An advisor to the speaker of Iran’s parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, called Trump’s ceasefire extension “a ploy to buy time” for a surprise strike, Reuters reported. Qalibaf’s advisor, in a post on X, also said the continued blockade of Iranian ports by the U.S. Navy was “no different from bombardment and must…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! EXCLUSIVE: A new book reveals what Bryan Kohberger’s trial defense would have looked like had he not changed his plea in the Idaho student murders weeks ahead of trial and reveals the defense could have argued for the most critical evidence in the case — a Ka-Bar knife sheath — to be tossed.Christopher Whitcomb’s “Broken Plea: The Explosive Search for Truth Behind the Idaho Murders,” draws on previously unseen expert reports and other materials that were never presented publicly in court after Kohberger pleaded guilty weeks before his trial date.In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Whitcomb revealed that a defense expert raised serious chain of custody concerns surrounding the sheath found in victim Madison Mogen’s bed.EMAILS REVEAL HOW CAMPUS POLICE TRACKED DOWN BRYAN KOHBERGER’S CAR WEEKS BEFORE HE BECAME A SUSPECT “It is plausible for someone to argue that the chain of custody would have led to significant problems for the prosecution in presenting evidence of any kind of DNA, and if that were to be excluded, then you have a white car and you have the cell tower pings,” he said. “I would say, fundamentally, looking at this case…
The U.S. Army is rolling out a new physical assessment designed to measure battlefield fitness for soldiers serving in combat roles, the service announced on Wednesday. The new Combat Field Test is designed to evaluate how soldiers perform under conditions that more closely resemble warfare on the modern battlefield, the Army said, launching a program that emphasizes strength, endurance and movement with loads. The test will also be age- and sex-neutral and scored on a pass/fail standard. The test begins with a one-mile run, followed by 30 dead-stop pushups, a 100-meter sprint, 16 lifts of a 40-pound sandbag onto a 65-inch platform and a 50-meter carry of two Army water cans weighing 40 pounds each. The soldier then completes a 50-meter movement drill with high crawl and a 25-meter three-five second rush before a final one-mile run. Soldiers have 30 minutes to complete the entire assessment — with a continuously running clock — while wearing the Army Combat Uniform with boots. The Combat Field Test does not replace the Army Fitness Test, the service said.RELATEDThe Army will begin to implement the new test this month, and it will be required annually. The service said no adverse administrative actions would be taken against…

MoreUnited States ruler Donald Trump claims that the U.S. can wage war “forever” with an “virtually unlimited” supply of weapons and ammunition. Trump made the claim in a post to Truth Social on Monday. In the post, Trump dismissed concerns over the U.S.’s alleged limited munitions availability. Military analysts have claimed that the concern is over air defense missiles, and they claim it is a limiting factor in the ongoing U.S.-Israeli campaign aimed at toppling the Iranian government. “Wars can be fought ‘forever,’ and very successfully, using just these supplies (which are better than other countries’ finest arms!),” he wrote. The president suggested weapons stored in other nations could be reallocated for Pentagon use as well, according to a report by RT. A joint U.S.-Israel attack on Iran was responsible for killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran Has Confirmed The Death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei If the U.S. Attempts Assassination of Khamenei, Iran Will Declare War Military experts believe that both Israel and the U.S. are rapidly expending high-end weapons such as interceptors for THAAD, Patriot, and Arrow-3 air defense systems, and sea-launched Tomahawk cruise missiles, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday. Even though the “depth” of military weapons…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! Newly released bodycam video obtained by Fox News Digital shows the husband of an Ohio teacher, who was shot and killed inside the couple’s home, reacting in the immediate aftermath of her death. Caleb Flynn, 39, is charged with murder stemming from the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. The mother, teacher and volleyball coach was shot and killed inside the family’s Tipp City home on Feb. 16. Caleb Flynn was arrested later the same week after he initially called 911 to report that someone had broken into the family’s home. Video released by Tipp City police shows officers arriving at the home believing they were responding to a botched burglary attempt, with some clips blurred while showing the inside of the residence. The officers subsequently encounter Caleb Flynn inside the home. “Oh, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,” a sobbing Caleb Flynn says in the video. “Is she, is she gone?” he asks. “What do I do with my daughters?” Caleb Flynn continues to appear frantic throughout the initial search of the home, loudly crying and hyperventilating as officers attempt to communicate with him. At one point, he can be heard calling his own mother to inform her of the…
The U.S. Air Force updated its physical fitness program and score charts for the fitness tests to boost the long-term health of airmen. The modernized program utilizes a more thorough assessment model to strengthen warfighter readiness by motivating airmen to build more sustainable fitness habits for the duration of their careers, according to a Feb. 27 release.“This update is not just about increasing the physical fitness test standards; it’s about ensuring our warfighters are fit, ready, and prioritizing their long-term health,” Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Ken Wilsbach said in the memo. The updated score charts will have increased minimums for each scored component and separate charts are now available for Occupationally Specific Physical Fitness Assessments as well.A baseline window for airmen to take the diagnostic tests will begin March 1, but scoring won’t become official until July 1, per the statement. This gives the airmen time to adjust their training focus as needed before the official scoring date. The baseline period is also meant to produce data to ensure that the new program is implemented in a fair, accurate and effective manner across the Air Force.“The baseline period will also provide the data required to assess and refine score charts in…
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! A protester was escorted out of a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing after she interrupted Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s opening remarks on Tuesday, shouting “Abolish ICE,” and “Kristi Noem, you should be ashamed of yourself!” before being forcibly removed from the room.”I’m a former FEMA employee,” the heckler said as Noem was slated to begin addressing the panel, adding: “You have disgraced our agency.””FEMA employees … should be responding to disasters, not ICE agents,” she said. The heckler appeared to trip or fall to the ground as she was being escorted from the hearing, as could be seen in video footage of the exchange. The exchange occurred during a Senate Judiciary Committee DHS oversight hearing — a long-awaited hearing that comes after the fatal January shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by immigration officials.Congress has for weeks remained deadlocked over how to proceed with fully funding DHS, after Democrats outlined a series of steps the agency would need to take before it would agree to fully fund the agency. Republicans and Noem have warned the shutdown has knockdown effects on myriad federal departments and agencies housed under DHS’s sprawling umbrella…
Practically all shooters have experienced blowback. Not the type where something you did or didn’t do caused things to go sideways and have unintended consequences. No, I’m talking about the blowback operating system in rifle or pistol. Roller-delayed (left) and direct blowback (right) systems can both cycle a semi-automatic firearm, but the mechanics behind each are surprisingly distinct. You’ve fired a semi-automatic .22LR rifle or pistol, right? Well, nearly every one ever built uses a blowback system because it is simple, economical to manufacture, and needs little maintenance. Most large-format pistols and rifles chambered in 9mm also use a blowback operating mechanism. The power from a 9mm cartridge is more powerful than a .22 rimfire, so the mechanism needs to be more robust. In a blowback operating system, the expanding gases and recoil of the fired cartridge push the bolt backward to extract the spent case, with the action held closed long enough for chamber pressure to drop to safe levels through a combination of bolt mass and spring pressure. Once the action has fully opened and the extracted case is ejected, the recoil spring then pushes the bolt forward to load the next round. It’s a very simple concept.…
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! Justin Timberlake is suing Sag Harbor village in an attempt to prohibit the release of bodycam footage from his 2024 arrest, according to documents obtained by Fox News Digital.Timberlake, 45, pleaded guilty in September 2024 to “driving while ability impaired,” and received community service in addition to offering a public apology as part of a plea agreement. The “Can’t Stop The Feeling” singer filed a petition Monday against the Sag Harbor Village Police Department; Robert Drake, in his official capacity as the chief of police of the Sag Harbor Village Police Department; and the Village of Sag Harbor to prevent eight hours of footage from the night Timberlake was arrested from being disseminated to the public. In the petition, Timberlake’s legal team claimed they were notified on March 1 of the department’s intention to respond to a request under the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) to release all eight hours of bodycam footage from his June 18, 2024, arrest, which were subject to “undisclosed redactions for ‘medical’ reasons and for the security of the Sag Harbor police complex.”Timberlake argued that the footage “contains personally identifying information and private details that are not germane…
BERLIN — Greece has dispatched two frigates and four F-16 fighter jets to Cyprus following a drone strike on RAF Akrotiri, the British military’s main hub for Middle East aerial operations, as the Iran conflict threatens to spill into the Eastern Mediterranean.A Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicle reportedly struck the British base’s runway a few minutes past midnight on March 2, causing what the U.K. Ministry of Defence described as “minimal damage” with no reported casualties. Two additional drones targeting the base were intercepted on March 2, according to Cypriot authorities. The strike is widely believed to have been carried out by Iran or Iranian-backed proxies in retaliation for U.S. operations conducted from British bases in Cyprus in support of the U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran. In state media, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has also threatened to strike Cyprus with ballistic missiles. Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias announced the deployment of the FDI HN frigate Kimon − described as the most advanced vessel in the Hellenic Navy and the only one capable of providing long-range air defense − alongside a second frigate, identified in regional media as the Psara, which is equipped with Greece’s domestically developed Centaur counter-drone system and can detect…
