This article was originally published by Garrison Vance at Natural News.  Moscow’s Foreign Ministry warned on June 18 that any North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) attack on Russia would trigger a “decisive and devastating” retaliation, according to officials. The warning followed what Russian authorities described as the largest Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow in years, with more than 200 drones intercepted by Russian air defense systems. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that any NATO aggression would be met with overwhelming force, cautioning Western commanders that they “should realize what they are pushing Europe toward,” as reported by state media. The statement marked a sharp escalation in rhetoric amid ongoing hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, which have increasingly drawn in neighboring NATO members. Since 1506, the Pope has been protected today by the Swiss Guard, which has now evolved into an agency combining police, security and investigation functions.Switzerland successfully stayed neutral during WWI and WWII. That neutrality was backed by required military service from every man. On completing military service, Swiss men are required to retrain every so often and to keep a military rifle at home with a stock of…

The Marine Corps is updating its Marine Reconnaissance training curriculum through the launch of a new Ground Reconnaissance Course, according to Training and Education Command. As the new initial course in the recon training pipeline, GRC is one of two programs, alongside the Amphibious Reconnaissance Course, replacing the service’s Basic Reconnaissance Course. The new curriculum, which was launched April 27 at the Camp Pendleton-based Reconnaissance Training Company, was developed following analysis of how recon training can best support the service’s Force Design initiatives. The Reconnaissance Training Company, or RTC, trains Marines who will fight as part of scout or reconnaissance teams within the Corps’ Ground Combat Element of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force. “Marine Reconnaissance training will have the same rigor it’s long been famous for,” Maj. Gen. Michael A. Brooks, commanding general of Training Command, said in a May 1 release. “These changes are incredibly valuable, shaping a force capable of providing critical intelligence in dynamic and complex environments and ensuring our Marines remain the most effective on the battlefield.”The curriculum updates, meanwhile, are also designed to enhance students’ infantry skills by way of replacing Marine Combat Training for non-infantry Marines with the Infantry Rifleman Course. “This change reduces…

For soldiers stationed in some of the world’s most expensive areas, an important financial buffer meant to offset high prices may not always reflect the cost of living, a government watchdog found. The Department of Defense uses location-specific surveys and price and military spending data to set cost-of-living allowances, known as COLAs. In a report released on Thursday, the Government Accountability Office found that the department used a mix of unsound sampling practices and inconsistent processes to set COLAs, raising questions about whether payments reflect local expenses. Service members stationed in places like Hawaii, Japan, Alaska, Germany and Virginia — where the cost of living is often higher — receive COLA, or additional payments, to help offset costs. The total amount a service member receives is also based on the number of dependents in the household. The vast majority of those payments, the GAO said, are sent to soldiers stationed outside of the continental U.S., or OCONUS, versus those stationed inside the continental U.S., CONUS. The watchdog highlighted inconsistencies between how the department calculated COLA payments for OCONUS versus CONUS duty locations. The auditors also found discrepancies in the amount of and type information local commands provided soldiers in areas that…
