The aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, which had been deployed in U.S.-Israeli operations against Iran, anchored in Croatia’s Adriatic port of Split on Saturday for repairs and maintenance. The Ford, America’s newest and the world’s largest carrier, was operating in the Red Sea in support of Operation Epic Fury when a non-combat fire broke out in its main laundry room on March 12, injuring three sailors.Nearly 200 sailors were also treated for smoke-related issues, a U.S. official said at the time. The fire took hours to bring under control and had an impact on roughly 100 sleeping berths. The warship has been deployed for nine months and also took part in operations against Venezuela in the Caribbean prior to arriving in the Middle East. It has been plagued by plumbing problems during its deployment, affecting the nearly 650 toilets. The Ford had temporarily stopped at Souda Bay on the Greek island of Crete. The government of Croatia, which is a NATO-ally of the U.S., approved its arrival earlier this week.“During its visit, the USS Gerald R. Ford will host local officials and key leaders to reaffirm the strong and enduring alliance between the United States and Croatia,” the U.S. embassy to…

From its earliest experimental roots to today’s cutting-edge stealth bombers, the flying wing has remained one of aviation’s most radical and enduring ideas. Stripped of traditional fuselage and tail structures, this design prioritizes aerodynamic efficiency above all else. The design reduces drag and saves weight, which can extend its range. The Northrop YB-49 was the jet-propelled variant of the company’s YB-35 bomber, both of which used the flying wing configuration. Image: U.S. Air Force What began as a bold engineering concept in the 1930s would go on to influence some of the most advanced military aircraft ever built, including Sixth Generation stealth bombers and unmanned support and combat aircraft. Horten Ho 229 The Ho 229 was the first flying wing design to take to the skies. Design began in 1943 in response to the Luftwaffe Chief Hermann Göring’s request for a light bomber that met the 3×1,000 requirement. The bomber had to carry a payload of 1,000 kilos, 1,000 kilometers, at a speed of 1,000 kilometers per hour. This type of speed could only be achieved using jet propulsion. The Horten Ho 229 was a German light bomber capable of delivering a 1,000 kilogram payload and flying at 1,000 kph. Image: U.S.…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! Egyptian archaeologists recently unearthed the remnants of a Christian monastic site from the 5th century — some 400 years after the time of Jesus Christ. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities wrote in a translated statement on March 23 that a building was recently found in the Qallaya area in Egypt’s Beheira Governorate. The structure, likely a guesthouse used to host visitors, is a remnant of the “early beginnings of Coptic monasticism,” the release said. ARCHAEOLOGISTS UNCOVER GOLD-LADEN TOMB FILLED WITH ELITE BURIAL TREASURES FROM OVER 1,000 YEARS AGOPrevious buildings have also been found at the site, and the newly discovered structure had 13 multipurpose rooms used for “hospitality and teaching … in addition to service facilities such as a kitchen and storage areas,” officials said. The area is considered one of Egypt’s significant early monastic centers.  Coptic monasticism was one of the oldest forms of organized Christian monasticism, laying the groundwork for traditions that endure to this day.DOG WALKERS TRIGGER ARCHAEOLOGICAL RACE TO PRESERVE 2,000-YEAR-OLD FOOTPRINTS IN SHIFTING SANDSPictures from the site show ancient structures in remarkable condition, with walls and other architectural features still intact.”Excavations also revealed several architectural elements added to the…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! NASA is racing to establish a permanent human presence on the moon as the U.S. looks to beat China’s ambitions on the lunar surface amid intensifying competition in space. The Trump administration’s push for a roughly $20 billion moon base marks a major shift in NASA’s strategy, moving away from plans for a lunar-orbiting space station and toward building infrastructure directly on the moon as a long-term foothold for deep space exploration.”This time, the goal is not flags and footprints,” NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said as he outlined the plan. “This time, the goal is to stay.” BEIJING LEVERAGES UN TROOPS, FUNDING TO EXPAND GLOBAL INFLUENCE, HOUSE REPORT WARNS”The reason you want to have a lunar base is that it acts as a focal point of our ongoing efforts to not just be around the Earth, but go into deep space,” Casey Dreier, chief of space policy at The Planetary Society space exploration nonprofit, told Fox News Digital. “It’s like the reason that we have our base stations in Antarctica.”Dreier said a sustained presence on the moon would allow the U.S. to store supplies, build out infrastructure and expand its capabilities over time in…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! A forensic scientist with decades of experience in his craft remains skeptical about pronouncements from the Spanish government regarding the death of American college student James “Jimmy” Gracey.”So you’ve got a young man that leaves a bar in the middle of the night, or certainly after midnight,” Joseph Scott Morgan, associate professor of applied forensics at Jacksonville State University, told Fox News Digital. “He’s allegedly seen leaving with someone initially, and now we’re not really clear about that. He’s adjacent to a very, let’s just say, slippery area with rocks jetting out into the water. Did he fall off of the rocks? Well, I guess that’s certainly plausible.”Gracey, a 20-year-old junior at the University of Alabama, vanished in the early morning hours of March 17 after clubbing with friends at a popular tourist bar in Barcelona. His body was found two days later close to a nearby pier. Almost immediately, Spanish authorities told the press that Gracey’s death was accidental and that he wandered toward the water while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They said his wallet was recovered intact, with cash, credit cards and identification all inside.A chain necklace worn…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! The NFL will play a record nine international games during the 2026 season, spanning four different continents and seven countries, and beginning with a stop in Melbourne, Australia. The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers will play the first-ever game in Australia, but it will be played at 10:35 a.m. local time on Friday Sept. 11 to coincide with a Thursday night game at 8:35 p.m. ET in the U.S. With the NFL continuing its push to reach millions more globally, there is a question: what do players think about it, especially those that will be in situations like the Rams and 49ers come September?  Former NFL MVP Cam Newton was never able to play overseas, as he battled a Lisfranc injury when his squad was set to play in the United Kingdom. However, he believes, from a business perspective for the NFL, a global push makes too much sense. “I think what the NFL is doing is almost on brand. It’s business,” he said. “As we’re having this conversation about business, they understand the magnitude of magnifying the game of football. They’re doing it on one sense with full-contact football, but they’re also…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! It wasn’t the result he wanted in the end, but Alex Bregman loved every moment representing his country while playing for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) this month. The U.S. eventually fell to Venezuela in the WBC final, falling just short as was the result in 2023 after losing to Japan. But while winning it all is the obvious goal on the field, what it meant to wear the red, white and blue and represent the U.S. in the tournament wasn’t lost on players like Bregman, especially after a special pre-game speech. Former Navy SEAL Robert O’Neill, who was part of the 2011 raid that killed Osama bin Laden, gave Team USA a pregame speech before their quarterfinal matchup with Canada. It was something that Bregman felt impacted the entire room, and reminded each player and coach who they’re playing for.  “None of us knew going in and kinda just getting to hear some stories that he told of what it was like as a SEAL. Just all the details were crazy, and it really put it into perspective for all of us how lucky we are. There’s so many brave…

Defense Department civilian employee satisfaction and engagement scores declined markedly in 2025, according to an independent survey released last week by the nonpartisan Partnership for Public Service. The Partnership’s Public Service Viewpoint Survey — conducted after the Office of Personnel Management canceled the statutorily required Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey, or FEVS — recorded a government-wide Employee Engagement and Satisfaction Index Score of 32 out of 100. The survey was fielded from Nov. 10 to Dec. 19, 2025, and received 11,083 responses from employees at 17 large agencies and 13 midsize agencies.Among major DOD components, the Army posted the highest score at 48.1, Air Force civilians scored 38.5, and Navy and Marine Corps civilians scored 36.4, according to the Partnership’s data dashboard. Those figures are down from 70.3, 67.0, and 68.1, respectively, in the Partnership’s 2024 Best Places to Work rankings. The Partnership cautioned that “significant differences still exist between the PSVS and FEVS,” and that results “should not be directly compared with the results of previous federal employee surveys.”More than 58% of respondents government-wide reported that their engagement had worsened compared with late 2024. Only 9.1% of Army civilians agreed that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s political leadership team generates high levels…

We need to talk about stopping power because there’s a lot of garbage floating around. Misinformation that might get you hurt. Or worse, make you overconfident in your carry gun’s ability to end a fight instantly. Let me clear something up right now. Medical professionals experienced in evaluating gunshot wounds often cannot distinguish between wound paths from common handgun calibers during surgery or autopsy. That’s from the FBI’s own ballistic research. Not internet forum experts. Not gun shop commandos. Actual doctors. Training matters more than caliber debates. The best stopping power comes from putting rounds where they need to go, not from picking the biggest bullet. So, when someone starts going on about how their .45 has “superior stopping power” to your 9mm? They’re likely selling you nostalgia, not facts. Myth #1: Bigger Caliber Equals Better Stopping Power This is probably the most persistent myth out there. Walk into any gun shop and you’ll hear it. “Real men carry .45 ACP.” “9mm won’t stop anyone.” “I carry a .45 ‘cause they don’t make a .46.” Here’s the problem with that thinking. Ballistic gelatin shows what a bullet actually does after impact. Penetration depth and expansion matter far more than caliber…

Almost exactly two years since the release of the original State and Union-branded version, KA-BAR is bringing the F01 into its main production lineup. The F01CV alters the design in key ways to make an affordable, hard-working EDC. We were first introduced to the F01 design, the first all-new folder from KA-BAR in 50 years, in the spring of 2024. It was positioned as a premium piece and eventually landed in the State and Union catalog – State and Union being a custom/special project shop for KA-BAR. The F01C currently available from State and Union has G-10 handles and a blade made from S90V steel. Naturally, it’s on the pricier side, with an MSRP of $175. Only one color configuration for the F01CV at this point. The F01CV is the budget-friendly companion piece to that version. The design is the same, with a 3.25-inch modified wharncliffe blade shape being the star of the show. Here, however, the blade steel is 1095 Cro-Van, KA-BAR’s favorite variant of the hardworking, time-tested carbon steel. It’s an uncommon choice for a modern folder, but as something that’s easy to maintain, holds a great edge, and isn’t prone to chipping or other damage, 1095 Cro-Van…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! The University of Oregon recently announced that the school will begin offering abortion pills to its students beginning in the fall. The Lund Report, an independent outlet that covers health news for Oregon and southwest Washington, reported the school will start offering mifepristone and misoprostol to students only at the university health center. Mifepristone blocks progesterone, a hormone needed to sustain pregnancy, and is typically followed by misoprostol to complete the abortion.PRO-LIFE ORGANIZATION CALLS ON HHS AND FDA TO SUSPEND ABORTION PILL APPROVAL, TIGHTEN SAFETY RULES A study from the Ethics and Public Policy Center last April, authored by Ryan T. Anderson, the organization’s president, and Jamie Bryan Hall, its director of data analysis, reviewed a claims database that included 865,727 prescribed mifepristone abortions from 2017 to 2023.It found that 10.93% of women “experience sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or another serious adverse event within 45 days following a mifepristone abortion.” The Lund Report said the decision to provide abortion pills came after a campaign from UO Students for Choice, Associated Students of UO and Young Democratic Socialists of America at the University of Oregon. In February, The Daily Emerald reported that UO YDSA “has been campaigning for…

A U.S. Air Force fighter squadron that played a large role in the Trump administration’s 2025 operations targeting Houthi militants in Yemen was recognized as the top fighter squadron in the whole force. The 338th Fighter Wing’s 34th Fighter Squadron, known as the “Rude Rams” and located at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, have secured the 2025 Raytheon Award, the prize that acknowledges the top fighter squadron across the Air Force, according to a Tuesday release.“The Airmen of the 34th have demonstrated an unwavering resolve to take the fight to the enemy, generating lethal effects under the most demanding conditions,” Gen. Adrian Spain, commander of Air Combat Command, said in the release. The release notes that the 34th Fighter Squadron and the 34th Fighter Generation Squadron deployed the F-35A Lightning II in support of “combat and contingency operations” for CENTCOM and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. In 2025, the squadron was deployed for 11 out of 12 months, flew thousands of combat hours and contributed to operations in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility, like Rough Rider and Midnight Hammer, according to the release.Operation Rough Rider sought to destroy the capabilities of the Houthi terrorist organization in Yemen. The campaign occurred from…

There’s a clarity of purpose when it comes to single-action pistols like the 1911. The single-action was the first type of semi-automatic pistol, and it still remains popular through to today. Sir Winston Churchill claimed such a gun, the Mauser C96, saved his life in the Battle of Omdurman in 1898. On our side of the Atlantic, the 1911 .45 was killing America’s enemies before World War I, and did so through that conflict, as well as World War II, Vietnam, and even into the 21st century’s War on Terror. The Texas Rangers availed themselves of the 1911 as soon as it was adopted in the eponymous year, and it remains a signature gun of that fabled group of lawmen to this day. Modern 1911 variants like the Springfield Operator prove this isn’t just a nostalgic choice. Real-world performance keeps serious shooters coming back to this proven platform. Indeed, in an era of striker-fired service pistols, the 1911 is undergoing a resurgence of popularity through variants like the increased-capacity Springfield Armory Prodigy 9mm series. Of course, 1911’s have been protecting American homes and law-abiding concealed carriers the whole time through today. Additionally, pistols of the 1911 breed continue to rule in…

When speaking about the Strait of Hormuz and its closure to United States and Israeli vessels, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed Iran gave him a “present.” “They’re going to make a deal. They did something [Monday] that was amazing, actually. They gave us a present,” Trump said. Trump said he could not disclose what the gift was, but said it was “oil and gas-related” and was connected to the Strait of Hormuz. Simulation: Extended Strait of Hormuz Closure Could Affect $1.2 Trillion in Global Trade “The present arrived today, and it was a very big present worth a tremendous amount of money,” he said, according to a quote published by Fox News.  While speaking to reporters in the White House Oval Office, Trump said that the Iranian leadership sent him the gift on Monday, and it arrived on Tuesday. The Iranian regime was previously charging some tankers millions of dollars to pass through the global shipping choke point, according to a report from Iran International. Strait of Hormuz Closure Hinders Global Oil Supply Iran has also ordered federal agencies not to cooperate with the regional government and said it “will appoint a committee responsible for facilitating the formation of a new South…
