Saildrone, a maritime defense company, announced on Monday a new class of unmanned surface vessels designed for anti-submarine warfare operations. The company released the Saildrone Spectre design, a vessel 54 meters long and 250 metric tons that’s capable of a speed up to 30 knots, making it the company’s “most capable” platform, Salidrone said.Spectre is meant for ASW missions, which demand “extreme endurance and an ultra-quiet acoustic signature,” according to an advanced company release shared with Military Times. The release states that the vessel utilizes the wing system’s endurance and silent propulsion to fulfill ASW operations.Richard Jenkins, Saildrone’s founder and CEO, revealed the two vessels, one without a wing and one with, to reporters at Monday’s Sea-Air-Space Exposition and said it marked the first time the company is selling a Saildrone vessel without a wing.“While the Saildrone wing is very good for very long endurance, we do appreciate what other roles require more stealth, more speed, and don’t have a mission requirement for that exceptional endurance without the wing,” Jenkins told reporters on Monday.Saildrone is partnering with Lockheed Martin, who works as a “mission integrator supporting the mission autonomy,” Paul Lemmo, a vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin, said…

The U.S. medium-sized unmanned service vessels fleet could jump from roughly four to 30 vessels by 2030 in the Indo-Pacific, according to officials. As of now, the U.S. has at least four medium-sized unmanned service vessels that previously completed deployments in the region. In just four years, that amount could be approximately seven times larger, according to U.S. Navy Capt. Garrett Miller. Speaking on a panel about uncrewed maritime systems on Monday’s Sea-Air-Space Conference, Miller, the commodore of Surface Development Group 1, said that based on the service’s 2045 force vision, people can expect to see over 30 medium USVs in the Indo-Pacific.At the conference, he said that alongside the medium USVs, the service expects there to be thousands of small USVs and any number of unmanned aircraft systems that are operating from either manned or unmanned ships in that region. The four USVs that were deployed in the Indo-Pacific for five months in 2024 were the Sea Hunter, Sea Hawk, Mariner and Ranger vessels, and all four are still being used to further develop the Navy’s USV program. In early 2026, Miller announced at the Surface Navy Association’s 38th National Symposium the creation of three USV divisions and that the Sea Hawk…
Not every prom night memory can or should be passed along to the grandkids. This one about opting to take a 27-foot Oscar Mayer Wienermobile instead of a limo to the event is one that will be.For now anyway. Who knows how the Wienermobile will be portrayed years from now. The night the Seamen High School students will never forget came together the day before the prom when they were out at a Sonic restaurant in Topeka and noticed the large vehicle parked at a nearby grocery store.”One of my buddies was like, ‘Can we rent this thing?’ and I was like, ‘Well, what if we just ask about prom? The Department of Defense on Tuesday unveiled a $1.5 trillion budget proposal for fiscal 2027 — a 42% year-over-year increase and the most expensive military outlay in modern history. “We’re facing one of the most complex and dangerous threat environments in our nation’s 250-year history,” Jules J. Hurst III, the under secretary of war and chief financial officer, told reporters at a briefing at the Pentagon. “Our adversaries are rapidly advancing capabilities across every warfighting domain: in the air, land, sea, space and cyberspace, while years of underinvestment has strained our industrial base.”“This is a generational investment in the United States military,” Hurst added.According to officials, President Donald Trump’s key priorities include investments in the “Golden Dome” — a multi-layered defensive shield intended to safeguard the American homeland — as well as in drone warfare, artificial intelligence, data infrastructure, and the defense industrial base.Under the proposal, each branch of the military would receive a substantial increase in funding, with appropriations rising by 33.6% for the Air Force, 24.3% for the Navy and 23.9% for the Army. The framework also sets out pay raises for service members, depending on rank, ranging from 5 to 7%. In line with the president’s ambition…

A federal judge in Oregon on Monday placed new limits on federal agents’ use of tear gas and other crowd-control munitions during protests outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Portland.U.S. District Judge Michael Simon issued a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union of Oregon on behalf of protesters and freelance journalists. The suit names the Department of Homeland Security and argues that officers’ use of chemical munitions amounts to retaliation that chills First Amendment rights. The order followed a three-day hearing in which plaintiffs — including a demonstrator known for wearing a chicken costume, a married couple in their 80s and two freelance journalists — testified that federal officers used chemical spray and projectile munitions against them.In his written opinion, Simon said video evidence submitted in court depicted officers spraying OC spray into the faces of protesters engaged in passive resistance and deploying tear gas and pepper-ball rounds into crowds.JUDGE RULES FEDERAL AGENTS MUST LIMIT TEAR GAS AT PROTESTS NEAR PORTLAND ICE BUILDING “Plaintiffs provided numerous videos, which were received in evidence and unambiguously show DHS officers spraying OC Spray directly into the faces…
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! After three straight wins to begin the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC), Team USA earned a spot out of Pool B, advancing to the quarterfinal round after defeating Mexico, 5-3, in Houston on Monday night. Mexico has been the victor in each of the last three matchups against the U.S., including the 2023 game that ended with El Tri taking down the Stars and Stripes, 11-5. But thanks to some bat power from captain Aaron Judge and 21-year-old Boston Red Sox phenom Roman Anthony, Team USA was able to end that streak at Daikin Park. After the U.S. was unable to cash in on bases loaded in the first and runners on in the second, Judge wasted no time hitting his second home run of the tournament, taking Jesus Cruz to right field for a 2-0 lead. Then, after Kyle Schwarber singled to right, and Cal Raleigh was hit by a pitch, Anthony didn’t miss a stitch of a pitch inside. The towering moonshot took forever to land, and Anthony, who was gunned down at the plate in the bottom of the second inning, got some redemption by breaking the game open. TARIK SKUBAL LEAVES TEAM…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! Nearly half of California teachers plan to retire or quit in the next 10 years, according to a new survey. In California, the share of teachers who say they plan to retire in the next 10 years is between 40% and 49% with an estimate of 45%, Holly Kurtz, director of the Education Week Research Center, told Fox News Digital. Kurtz added that state teachers are on average older than teachers in many other states, according to the most recent federal data that is available. The average age of a California teacher is 45.5, while the average teacher age in the U.S. is 42.9. “This means that age likely is a major reason why CA teachers are more likely to say they plan to retire in the next decade than teachers in other states,” Kurtz told Fox News Digital. Nationwide, 36% of teachers say they plan to retire in the next ten years. “There’s a lot of evidence that indicates that teacher morale has been declining nationwide and is at, by some measures, the lowest point in recent memory,” Kurtz explained to EdSource. NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! The Las Vegas Raiders have flexed their financial muscle on the first day of the legal tampering period in the NFL. The Raiders came in with a league-high $111.91 million when the legal tampering period opened on Monday, and they wasted no time revamping their roster in different ways, including shelling out a record-breaking deal. Center Tyler Linderbaum was perhaps the best offensive lineman available on the market, and the former Baltimore Ravens first-round pick is heading out to Sin City after agreeing to terms on a three-year, $81 million deal with $60 million guaranteed. He is now the highest-paid interior offensive lineman in NFL history, per ESPN. Linderbaum, 25, cemented himself as one of the best centers in the league when he came out of Iowa, providing a consistent presence snapping the ball to two-time league MVP Lamar Jackson while in Baltimore. But with John Harbaugh parting ways, making way for the hiring of head coach Jesse Minter, Linderbaum returning to the Ravens was never a done deal. He was expected to get a hefty long-term deal somewhere in the NFL, but Las Vegas, a team that struggled on the offensive line all through…
Anthropic is suing the Trump administration, asking federal courts to reverse the Pentagon’s decision designating the artificial intelligence company a “supply chain risk” over its refusal to allow unrestricted military use of its technology.Anthropic filed two separate lawsuits Monday, one in California federal court and another in the federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., each challenging different aspects of the Pentagon’s actions against the company. The Pentagon last week formally designated the San Francisco tech company a supply chain risk after an unusually public dispute over how its AI chatbot Claude could be used in warfare.“These actions are unprecedented and unlawful,” Anthropic’s lawsuit says. ”The Constitution does not allow the government to wield its enormous power to punish a company for its protected speech. No federal statute authorizes the actions taken here. Anthropic turns to the judiciary as a last resort to vindicate its rights and halt the Executive’s unlawful campaign of retaliation.”The Defense Department declined to comment Monday, citing a policy of not commenting on matters in litigation.Anthropic said it sought to restrict its technology from being used for two high-level usages: mass surveillance of Americans and fully autonomous weapons. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and other officials publicly insisted the…
Buck has introduced two new modern folders into its catalog for the spring. The Ferrox and Nomad share materials and have similar dimensions, offering users two different options for a sub-$100 Buck user. 698 Ferrox We won’t pretend to understand Buck’s – or indeed, any other knife company’s – numbering system, but we don’t have to do to be able to appreciate the lines of the Ferrox itself. This is Buck’s version of the modified wharncliffe, a very popular profile for a modern EDC. At 3.25 inches, it is sized to handle what can be safely called the “standard” everyday cutting chore menu: breaking down boxes, cutting tape, slicing food, things like that. In addition to its useful size and cutting geometry, the Ferrox comes with D2 semi-stainless blade steel. While we’re detecting a slight shift in budget knife steels, D2 steel has been the reigning champ in that realm for years now, and for good reason: for anybody who can take its one notable downside, its lack of full stainlessness, in stride, it really does punch above its weight in pure performance. The Ferrox’s blade is secured with a crossbar lock. 700 Nomad The Ferrox’s stablemate the Nomad offers…
