This article was originally published by Michael Snyder at The End of the American Dream. What good is a ceasefire extension if nobody is upholding the terms of the current ceasefire? Honestly, can someone please explain that to me? There have been military clashes between the United States and Iran three times already this week. Meanwhile, fighting between Israel and Hezbollah is even more intense than it was before the original ceasefire agreement with Iran was signed. So if the current ceasefire agreement has been unable to stop the fighting, why should we believe that a 60-day extension of that ceasefire agreement will get the job done? We are being told that the 60-day ceasefire extension will require Iran to allow free passage through the Strait of Hormuz. That would be wonderful. But we were also told the exact same thing about the original ceasefire agreement. At the time, President Trump boldly proclaimed that Iran had agreed to allow commercial vessels to freely travel through the Strait of Hormuz. Of course, that never happened. But we are supposed to believe that Iran really means it this time? Give me a break. The Iranians know that it will probably take them…

The M1A has an impressive lineage. Based on a design dating back to the 1930s and born from the prodigious mind of John C. Garand, the M1A has many of the hallmarks of his M1 Garand rifle. However, it is even more closely tied to the M14, the rifle developed as the successor to Garand’s classic military rifle. And while the M14’s reign as the U.S. military service rifle may have technically been short, its influence and capabilities have carried on well beyond its official role as a front-line military rifle. In fact, the spirit of this select-fire combat rifle carried on in the semi-automatic-only M1A rifle from Geneseo, Illinois’ Springfield Armory, which has continuously produced the rifle since 1974. You can see some of the abuse the rifle took during the testing from just the brass impact marks on the operating rod alone. But how does the M1A stand up to the original M14 rifle? Does it have the capabilities and — possibly even more important — the durability of its military sibling? As the M14 came from an era of rugged strength and durability, as well as the use of wood and steel, the M1A has a lot to live up to. A Fascinating Find…

As controversy surrounding Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner continues to mount, attention is turning to a little-known provision of Maine law that could allow Democrats to replace him on the general election ballot after the primary. The question has taken on new significance because Maine election law provides a mechanism for replacing a nominee who withdraws after winning a primary.Under Maine law, a candidate who wins the June 9 primary and subsequently withdraws by 5 p.m. on July 13 may be replaced by a nominee selected by party officials. Any replacement candidate must be chosen no later than 5 p.m. on July 27. The timeline would give Democrats just 14 days to settle on a replacement candidate and prepare for the general election campaign.GRAHAM PLATNER VOWS TO ‘COME AFTER’ BEZOS AS SENATE HOPEFUL ESCALATES BILLIONAIRE TAX FIGHT While there is no public indication that Democrats are pursuing such a strategy, the provision has fueled speculation about what options the party would have if concerns about Platner’s candidacy continue to grow. The scrutiny comes as Platner has faced a series of controversies in recent weeks, including criticism over a tattoo with links to Nazi imagery,…

If you have not heard of Smith Enterprise, Inc., it is one of the most respected names in the M14/M1A world. In addition to providing civilian customers with a wide range of popular products for the platform, the company has also played an important role in both developing and providing weapon systems for use by our troops. The “Crazy Horse” M21A5 was developed by Smith Enterprise for use by the U.S. Military. A custom M1A-based variant is shown here. As a little background, the Smith family’s ties to the firearms world go back more than a century. And today, due to its extensive knowledge and success at pushing the M14 design to its seeming limits (and beyond), Smith Enterprise was one of the few companies chosen by the U.S. Military to help breathe new life into the M14 platform. A Notable Need: The M21A5 Solution In the early 2000s, the U.S. Army needed a powerful rifle that could engage targets beyond the range of the current M16 rifles and carbines. The U.S. Army had thousands of 7.62 NATO M14 rifles in the armory that were in poor condition but still a viable option for use. Smith Enterprise’s founder, Ron Smith, was…

This is a developing story.Three U.S. service members have been killed in action during combat operations against Iran, U.S. Central Command officials announced Sunday. Five more have been listed as “seriously wounded.” Several other troops “sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions — and are in the process of being returned to duty,” according to the CENTCOM release.A barrage of Iranian retaliatory strikes were launched at U.S. military installations across the Middle East on Saturday on the heels of a U.S. and Israeli air, land and sea bombardment across the Islamic Republic — a campaign dubbed Operation Epic Fury. Initial reports on Saturday indicated there were no U.S. casualties. Additional details surrounding the circumstances of the U.S. service member deaths have not yet been made available.“Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing,” the statement read. Claims were circulating online over the weekend that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps struck the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. CENTCOM officials dismissed the rumor Sunday, saying the “Lincoln was not hit.” “The missiles launched didn’t even come close,” CENTCOM officials said. “The Lincoln continues to launch aircraft in support of CENTCOM’s relentless campaign to defend the American people by eliminating threats from…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! TUCSON, Ariz. — The apparent kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie from her Arizona home has rocked the nation, shining a fresh light on concerns about senior citizens’ safety in neighborhoods typically considered safe and even affluent throughout the country. The remote, desert-like landscape surrounding Nancy Guthrie’s rural home in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills provided the 84-year-old with a retirement oasis many elderly Americans also seek in their golden years. The area boasts a median age of 56 and home value of $652,000, with a population of around 53,000 people, according to U.S. census data. Additionally, many of the homes – including Nancy Guthrie’s – are situated on acres of land that are not visible from the road. In an interview with “Today” in November, the mother of host Savannah Guthrie referred to the Catalina Foothills as “laid back and gentle,” further emphasizing the appeal of similar neighborhoods throughout the country. But in the early morning hours of Feb. 1, authorities say Nancy Guthrie was taken from her home in an apparent abduction, launching a weekslong multi-agency search that has resulted in few leads. The case has rocked the country as both elderly homeowners and their children are raising…
