NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! Joint Russian and Chinese military aircraft and vessels have entered the U.S. Arctic air defense identification zone (ADIZ) near Alaska dozens of times in recent months, Sen. Dan Sullivan said in an interview with Fox News Digital, warning the activity amounts to coordinated pressure on America’s northern defenses.Sullivan, R-Alaska, said data compiled by his office shows mostly airborne incursions — and at times joint patrols — along with several naval and “research” vessels operating inside the ADIZ, a buffer zone where aircraft must identify themselves but are not automatically denied access.”They were spying on us,” Sullivan said, arguing the missions amount to strategic surveillance and have accelerated efforts to reopen the Navy base at Adak and expand Arctic infrastructure.Sullivan led a Senate Commerce subcommittee hearing last month that secured $25 billion in new Coast Guard funding, including $4.5 billion for infrastructure upgrades such as a deepwater port in Nome — one of the closest U.S. cities to Russia — and additional Arctic icebreakers. The U.S. currently operates two icebreakers, one of which is out of service, compared with Russia’s reported 54.RUSSIA, CHINA SQUEEZE US ARCTIC DEFENSE ZONE AS TRUMP EYES GREENLANDAmong the…

The Pentagon wants sensors that can detect small drones threatening military installations across the United States. And it wants them fast. “Due to the urgency of the threat and the need to assess capability readiness,” the Defense Innovation Unit needs products in time for a spring 2026 demonstration a Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona, according to a DIU solicitation. “Invited companies may have 30 days or less between notification and execution of the demonstration,” the solicitation adds. The project, titled “Counter UAS Sensing for Homeland and Mobile Defense,” seems aimed at both civil defense and battlefield protection. The first track is protection of installations in the U.S. In this case, the sensors must detect Group 1 UAVs — the smallest category, weighing less than 20 pounds — at a minimum range of 2 kilometers. A secondary attribute is the ability to spot Group 2 and 3 drones, or those weighing less than 1,320 pounds. Sensors should also be able to screen out ground clutter and birds, according to the request. “Solutions may employ single or multimodal sensing to enhance the radar solution, however the solution must include a radar sensor as part of the total proposal,” the DIU solicitation states. The…

If you want to understand Steinel Ammo, start with the phrase stamped on everything they do: “Dedicated to Every Round.” That isn’t just marketing talk — it’s their core philosophy. Steinel Ammunition is for shooters who care. Steinel Ammunition Co. began as a home-based business driven by a dream and hard work. Image: Steinel Ammunition Co. At Steinel, there is only the good stuff. There are no levels of ammo quality, such as “match” or “range.” Whether it’s for self-defense, hunting, or target shooting, every round is produced to the same exacting standards because premium ammunition isn’t just a product line; it’s their entire mission. That’s what I noticed most during my visit last year when I toured their facility. But more on that later.  Who Is Andy Steinel? That mindset originates directly from leadership. Andy Steinel, the founder, embodies this approach in shooting, engineering, and accountability. In 2015, Steinel Ammo was started in Andy’s basement, where he loaded small batches of remanufactured ammo. His late father inspected each round before Andy took them to local (and not-so-local) gun shows. Steinel Ammunition offers a broad selection of ammo, including six different 12.7×42 loads (also known as .50 Beowulf). What began as…

Some Army officers will be shuttled into new job specialties or even transferred to a different service as certain jobs are eliminated, Military Times has learned. The restructuring cuts come on the heels of a service-wide officer career field review conducted over the last 10 months, Brig. Gen. Gregory Johnson, the Army’s director of Personnel Management, said in an interview. The officer functional areas, or career fields, that are affected include Force Management, Functional Area 50; Acquisitions, Functional Area 51; Simulations Operations, Functional Area 57; Strategy, Functional Area 59; and Marketing, Functional Area 58.The entire officer populations of these job specialties make up “a couple thousand” soldiers, Johnson said. The Army declined to say how many positions were being eliminated, as some of those decisions are still being made. Sources have said, though, that some communities may be shrinking by as much as half.Johnson said affected officers had been notified and had three years to make moves.“The 36-month transition plan gives a lot of opportunity for officers to make choices inside the Army. This is not a forced reduction at all,” Johnson said. “This is, we’re balancing these specialties, tied to what we see is needed for the operating environment. And…

Some of the most hotly contested states in this year’s elections are also footing the nation’s steepest tariff bills, according to an analysis of U.S. Census trade data. That convergence creates a new economic pressure point at a time when affordability dominates the national midterm debate and the cost of everyday goods remains a top voter concern. Candidates in both parties are campaigning on promises to rein in the cost of groceries, housing and other everyday goods. All 435 House seats and 33 Senate seats are on the ballot this year, putting Republicans’ slim majorities at risk. The United States will send the world’s largest aircraft carrier to the Middle East to back up another already there, a person familiar with the plans said Friday, putting more American firepower behind President Donald Trump’s efforts to coerce Iran into a deal over its nuclear program. The USS Gerald R. Ford’s planned deployment to the Mideast comes after Trump only days earlier suggested another round of talks with the Iranians was at hand. Those negotiations didn’t materialize as one of Tehran’s top security officials visited Oman and Qatar this week and exchanged messages with the U.S. intermediaries.Already, Gulf Arab nations have warned any attack could spiral into another regional conflict in a Mideast still reeling from the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, Iranians are beginning to hold 40-day mourning ceremonies for the thousands killed in Tehran’s bloody crackdown on nationwide protests last month, adding to the internal pressure faced by the sanctions-battered Islamic Republic. The Ford’s deployment, first reported by The New York Times, will put two carriers and their accompanying warships in the region. Already, the USS Abraham Lincoln and its accompanying guided-missile destroyers are in the Arabian Sea.The person who spoke to The Associated Press on the…

This article was originally published by Michael Snyder at The End of the American Dream.  Whether we like it or not, AI is radically transforming virtually every aspect of our society.  We have already reached a point where AI can do most things better than humans can, and AI technology continues to advance at an exponential rate.  The frightening thing is that it is advancing so fast that we may soon lose control over it.  The latest model that OpenAI just released was instrumental in creating itself, and it is light-years ahead of the AI models that were being released just a couple of years ago. An excellent article that was written by someone who works in the AI industry is getting a ton of attention today.  His name is Matt Shumer, and he is warning that GPT-5.3 Codex from OpenAI and Opus 4.6 from Anthropic represent a quantum leap in the development of AI models… For years, AI had been improving steadily. Big jumps here and there, but each big jump was spaced out enough that you could absorb them as they came. Then in 2025, new techniques for building these models unlocked a much faster pace of progress.…
