A U.S. Marine Corps staff sergeant developed an app meant to combat drunk driving for fellow service members, helping him earn the 2026 James Maguire Award for exceptional achievement in Marine aviation.Last year, SSgt. Christian Smellie launched GY6Lift, a no-cost ride-hailing app designed to reduce impaired driving for service members, pushing it to app stores in October 2025.Smellie, a flight equipment technician with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 251, has served in the Corps for 11 years. Smellie told Military Times that during his time as a junior Marine in Japan, he witnessed many service members “throwing away their careers” by getting a DUI or hurting others while driving under the influence.“I care deeply for my Marines and don’t want a silly thing like a DUI make them lose the chance to do great things,” Smellie said. The app aims to remove excuses for drunk driving and create a responsible community. The 100th Buck of the Month has arrived, a new and (as usual) very limited version of the 112 Ranger. This is a stylish and high-performance rendition of this close relative of Buck’s most famous folder. These days, the 112 Ranger’s fan base can stand comparison even with that of the almighty Folding Hunter. Maybe this is because its dimensions are more amenable to the modern EDC aficianado’s needs than its bigger brother – or maybe Buck addiction has seized the knife community and, upon acquiring their first of the company’s famous folders, enthusiasts immediately need another model to lust after, order, and eagerly await in the mail. We’ve all been there. The pocket clip is low profile and deep carry Either way, this is an admirably restrained collector’s version of the 112 Ranger, tailored for performance as much as shelf-bound perfection. The 3-inch drop point blade is made from S35VN, a proven super steel staple, here enhanced by the crucial Bos heat treat; the long pull nail mark here provides the sole method of opening the knife and a very tangible connection to the earliest iterations of this long-running 110 descendant. This 112 Ranger’s handle differs from the common…

Airlines have started raising costs and cutting routes as the fuel crisis, spurred by the Iran war, has increased costs.  The risk of last-minute cancellations and disruptions before the summer holiday season is also rising. The jet fuel squeeze is being driven by disruption in one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints. The Strait of Hormuz has strangled fuel transport globally amid the US-Israeli war on Iran, according to a report by RT. Around a fifth of global oil supply passes through the narrow route linking the Persian Gulf to world markets, making it vital to energy flows to Europe and Asia, according to the International Energy Agency. Hegseth: Hormuz Blockade Stays “As Long As It Takes” – Ships Now Fair Game For Search & Seizure The escalation of the conflict has sharply reduced tanker traffic through the strait, with shipments delayed or halted, triggering what IEA chief Fatih Birol even warned could become the worst energy crisis in history. Jet fuel is scarce by design. Only a small amount, less than 10% of oil, is refined into jet fuel. That means that the supply cannot just easily increase when the economic law of supply and demand warrants it.…

This article was originally published by Michael Snyder at The End of the American Dream under the title: As The Threat Of War Looms, A Very Rare “Planetary Parade” Involving 6 Planets Will Appear In The Night Sky This Week We are about to witness a very rare sight in the heavens. A “planetary parade” involving at least 6 planets is quite rare. In fact, normally, there are at least a couple of decades between such events. But as the threat of a major war in the Middle East looms, we will get to see a “planetary parade” that includes Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune this week… Six planets in the solar system are going to align in the western sky just after sunset. Those planets will include Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The latter two planets, Uranus and Neptune, will need binoculars or a telescope to be seen. The others will all be visible with the naked eye. This alignment of six planets is already moving close to its position. The best alignment date will be Saturday, February 28. From Earth’s perspective, the six planets will not be in a perfect straight line, yet will…

The U.S. Air Force and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. recently completed a successful manned-unmanned teamed demonstration between an F-22 Raptor and an MQ-20 Avenger unmanned aircraft, advancing the integration of autonomous systems into tactical fighter operations, according to a Feb. 23 company release. The live-flight exercise, conducted at Edwards Air Force Base in California, featured a human-piloted F-22 issuing real-time commands to the MQ-20 via advanced autonomy software and a tactical data link. The Avenger drone responded by executing a range of mission tasks, including waypoint navigation, combat air patrol patterns and simulated engagement of airborne threats, functioning as a direct force extender for the manned platform, according to the release. The demonstration leveraged government-provided reference autonomy software on the F-22 and GA-ASI’s Autonodyne Bashi Pilot Vehicle Interface aboard the MQ-20. Onboard sensors enabled the unmanned aircraft to process information independently, coordinate maneuvers and exchange tactical messages with the Raptor in a continuous command loop between the two aircraft. “We appreciate the flawless execution of this mission using the government’s advanced autonomous systems,” said General Atomics President David R. Alexander. “This demo featured the integration of mission elements and the ability of autonomy to utilize onboard sensors to make…

U.S. President Donald Trump said he would deploy a hospital ship to Greenland, alleging that many people there are sick and not receiving care, even though both of the U.S. Navy’s hospital ships are currently docked at a shipyard in Alabama.Trump’s announcement prompted a defense on Sunday of Denmark and Greenland’s health care system from their leaders, and it was the latest point of friction with the American leader who has frequently talked about seizing the massive Arctic territory.“It’s a no thank you from here,” said Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen.Trump’s social media post about a hospital ship came after Denmark’s military said its arctic command forces on Saturday evacuated a crew member of a U.S. submarine off the coast of Greenland for urgent medical treatment. The Danish Joint Arctic Command, on its Facebook page, said the crew member was evacuated some 7 nautical miles (8 miles; 13 kilometers) off Nuuk — the capital of the vast, ice-covered territory — and transferred to a hospital in the city. The crew member was retrieved by a Danish Seahawk helicopter that had been deployed on an inspection ship.Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform on Saturday night, referred to his special…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, is calling on Congress to put more support behind joint efforts between the U.S. and Mexico to combat Mexican drug cartels in the wake of the death of “El Mencho,” the leader of the “most violent and deranged cartel.””This is the beginning of the war against the most violent and deranged cartel in Mexico: El Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación or OJNG,” Crenshaw said in a post to X on Monday morning.Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL, believes the strike on El Mencho represents a needed expansion of U.S. efforts to combat cartels and a window of opportunity for increased coordination between U.S.-Mexican forces.”Over the past year, most of the attention has been on the Sinaloa Cartel. This is a much-needed refocusing on CJNG. Both are major traffickers of fentanyl, but CJNG is more like ISIS than the mafia,” Crenshaw said. Crenshaw believes Congress has a role to play in combating that threat.”I’ve authored a dozen pieces of legislation to support our military, intelligence and law enforcement efforts in Mexico. It’s time for Committees to take them up.”Among them, Crenshaw introduced a bill in 2023 alongside 24 other cosponsors that…

The United States has ordered nonessential personnel and their family members to leave its embassy in Beirut, a senior State Department official told Military Times on Monday, as Washington continues a massive military buildup in the Middle East. The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive information, said the drawdown is a “prudent” step to reduce the American footprint in the region while President Donald Trump mulls a strike on Iran. “The Embassy remains operational with core staff in place. This is a temporary measure intended to ensure the safety of our personnel while maintaining our ability to operate and assist U.S. citizens.”Embassies are often thinned when security threats in the region rise. Prior to Operation Midnight Hammer — the multipronged U.S. attack on three Iranian nuclear sites last June — the State Department withdrew nonessential personnel from posts in Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait and Lebanon. Beirut was the site of deep trauma for the U.S. a generation ago. In 1983, Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed proxy group, killed 220 Marines, 18 Navy sailors and three Army soldiers in a suicide bombing of the Marine barracks in the city.Today, Lebanon remains the primary base of Hezbollah. The latest U.S. evacuation…
