The world’s attention is fixed on the Strait of Hormuz now that the U.S. Navy is blockading the crucial shipping channel at President Donald Trump’s behest. But some foreign policy experts warn that the strait is not the only potential choke point that Iran and its proxies could leverage. In particular, they cite the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which sits at the mouth of the Red Sea just off the coast of Yemen. The waterway is highly susceptible to attack from the Iranian-backed Houthis, who control most of Yemen.“The Houthis are the ones who pioneered, in a way, this idea of using asymmetric capabilities to disrupt maritime traffic,” Mona Yacoubian, the director of the Middle East Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said in an interview with Military Times. “It has to be the right set of circumstances, but we could potentially see a situation in which they choose to engage on Red Sea shipping and ships attempting to cross the Bab el-Mandeb and also — by virtue of which way the water flows — the Suez Canal.” Skeptics fear that if the Houthis stepped fully off the sidelines and into an aggressive posture on Bab el-Mandeb, another…

OutKick’s Riley Gaines addressed her criticism of President Donald Trump that led him to respond he wasn’t a “fan” of the conservative influencer, reiterating Tuesday she thought the AI image he posted of himself as a Christ-like figure was inappropriate.Gaines said she’d received “so much pushback” from the MAGA base for her opinion.”Multiple things, really, can be true here. No. 1, I do believe humility would serve President Trump, No. 2, God shall not be mocked, and blasphemy is not something to take lightly, and three, I don’t regret my vote at all,” Gaines said on her show. “But this online base, the discourse that exists there, it makes you feel like you’re the crazy person for saying those things.”Gaines was among the conservative voices on Monday who objected to an image of Trump in robes healing a sick man, surrounded by followers and patriotic imagery.TRUMP’S MEME DEPICTING HIMSELF AS JESUS CHRIST DRAWS BACKLASH FROM ALLIES Americans on both sides of the aisle, including many Trump supporters, criticized the image as inappropriate and even blasphemous.Trump was asked Monday about the image of himself, which he later deleted.”I thought it was me as a…

As the Pentagon pursues a review of the effectiveness of women in ground combat roles, a group of lawmakers is promoting legislation that would enshrine in policy the ability for women to serve in those roles. Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, a Pennsylvania Democrat and former Air Force Officer, has introduced the Women Add Resourcefulness and Resilience to Improve Operational Readiness (WARRIOR) Act, which would prohibit the military services from excluding service members from any “occupational speciality, career field, or assignment” on the basis of sex.Houlahan was joined by Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., a former Army Ranger and paratrooper, and Rep. Maggie Goodlander, D-N.H., a former Naval intelligence officer. Others among the 36 cosponsors include Reps. Gil Cisneros, D-Calif; Pat Ryan, D-N.Y.; Mike Thompson, D-Calif., and Derek Tran, D-Calif. All are military veterans. The bill, which lacks Republican sponsors, is explicitly described as a response to the Pentagon review and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s comments casting doubt on the ability of women to perform in keeping with established standards in ground combat roles.“The WARRIOR Act proactively affirms women’s qualifications to serve in combat,” according to a statement from Houlahan’s office. “The legislation amends outdated law from 1996 and 2006 to ensure that women…

Sencut is fixing to add a slipjoint to their catalog with an incoming model called the Braxx. The Braxx packs in a robust blade shape at a solid length for most day-to-day cutting chores. Modern slipjoint design can be just as various as that of locking folders – we’ve seen tantos, reverse tantos, trailing points, wharnies both standard and modified – heck, we’ve probably seen a non-locking karambit somewhere along the line. We live in an age where production knives are releasing so quickly in such profusion that all knife formats are benefitting in terms of sheer variety. In addition to the synthetic scale options, there’s a wood-handled model. That being said, the Sencut design team opted for the good ol’ fashioned drop point. It’s an assertive, stylized version of the form, too – and, at 3.12 inches in length, it has the necessary wingspan for a lot of chores both big and small. The blade steel is D2, so performance in its price class (sub-$50 MSRP) will be near the top in terms of edge retention and overall toughness. The only thing one needs to worry about with D2 is its comparative lack of rust resistance – but it…

A vessel owned by China passed through the Strait of Hormuz in spite of the blockade by the United States Navy under orders of President Donald Trump. The sanctioned Chinese-owned oil and chemical tanker Rich Starry successfully transited the vital waterway on Tuesday amid a U.S. blockade on Iranian ports. The Rich Starry was the first vessel to cross the Strait since the U.S. imposed its blockade on Monday. The ship was initially turned back on Monday, but was successful on its second attempt to cross. Citing data from Kpler and MarineTraffic, Reuters reported that the vessel had traversed the chokepoint earlier today. Owned by Shanghai Xuanrun Shipping Co Ltd., the vessel, Rich Starry, became a target for U.S. sanctions because it was used to transport Iranian crude. President Trump announced on Sunday that the U.S. Navy would “begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz.” The blockade was set to start at 10 am Eastern Time on Monday and would not, in point of fact, target any and all ships, but only those heading for or setting off from Iranian ports. The Rich Starry was transiting the Strait from the United…

Europe has warned Israel that continued strikes on Lebanon will result in “devastating humanitarian consequences.” The Israeli military announced “limited and targeted ground operations against key Hezbollah strongholds” in its northern neighbor on Monday after the group attacked in retaliation for the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In a joint statement issued Monday, the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Canada said they were “gravely concerned” by the escalating violence and called for “meaningful engagement by Israeli and Lebanese representatives to negotiate a sustainable political solution,” urging “immediate de-escalation.” WAR ALERT: Israel Invades Lebanon United Nations peacekeepers have added to the concerns, saying that Israel’s “actions are unacceptable.” “A significant Israeli ground offensive would have devastating humanitarian consequences and could lead to a protracted conflict. It must be averted. The humanitarian situation in Lebanon, including ongoing mass displacement, is already deeply alarming,” the joint statement read. The broader US-Israel war against Iran has already highlighted a growing rift between European NATO members and Washington. European leaders have rejected US President Donald Trump’s demand to help unblock the Strait of Hormuz, which was de facto closed by Iran after the escalation. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius delivered the bluntest pushback,…

PARIS — European NATO allies pushed back against demands by U.S. President Donald Trump to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz by force, weeks after Iran shut down the majority of shipping through the critical trade artery in response to the American-Israeli war against the country.British Prime Minister Kier Starmer said on Monday the United Kingdom “will not be drawn into the wider war,” while German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said “this is not our war.” Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, said member states have no appetite to expand their maritime-security operation in the Red Sea to the Strait of Hormuz, the gateway to the Persian Gulf.Iran declared the strait closed to traffic on March 2, following the start of strikes against the country by the U.S. and Israel two days earlier. While saying the U.S. doesn’t need anyone’s help, Trump has simultaneously called on allies to aid in securing navigation in the waterway, reportedly going as far as to threaten consequences for the NATO alliance if European countries reject those demands.“The feeling is, this is not Europe’s war,” Kallas told Reuters in an interview on Tuesday. “Of course we are allies with America, but we don’t…

Credit: iStock user Juleta Martirosyan. We look at the Bruen Decision and why America’s historical gun culture still matters in modern court cases. For decades, courts treated the Second Amendment differently from every other constitutional right. Judges weighed individual liberty against government interests, balancing policy preferences rather than examining history. That era is over, as confirmed in the Bruen opinion.Today, courts are being asked a simpler, but far more uncomfortable, question: Is a modern gun law consistent with the historical tradition of firearm regulation in the United States?Answering that question requires confronting a reality many would prefer to ignore: American gun culture is not an accident of modernity. It is deeply rooted in law, practice and expectation. When History Became DecisiveModern Second Amendment litigation now turns on historical grounding. Courts increasingly demand evidence that contemporary restrictions resemble those accepted at the time of the founding. This shift has exposed a serious problem for gun control advocates. Many popular regulatory ideas, like broad public carry bans, categorical disarmament of non-violent citizens and restrictions based on weapon capacity or technology, have little historical precedent. The record of early America is not one of widespread disarmament. It is one of widespread armament. What the History ShowsColonial and early American laws…

The Denver Broncos have reportedly added a major weapon to their offense. The Broncos acquired star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and a fourth-round pick from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for the Broncos’ first-round pick (No. 30 overall), a third-round pick and a fourth-round pick, according to multiple reports. The teams reportedly talked about moving Waddle at the trade deadline last season, but a deal never came to fruition.
